Jim Beaver of Deadwood and Supernatural fame has written a memoir about losing his wife to disease. For more reviews and words from his co-stars and other writers click the image above. There you can also pre-order the book that will come out on April 16th.
I have been following Jim's blog for a long time and all I can say is that he is a most open-minded and compassionate man and he has a very sincere style of writing and you cannot help but let his words touch you. I'm always looking forward to reading a few lines from him, be it a few lines about his days on the set of a series or about his friends and family. I have already pre-ordered his book, and you should too. I'm certain you won't regret it.
Jim says: "Despite the "perfect storm" of having a new TV series (Harper's Island) premiering, another series (Supernatural) wrapping up a great season, and a new book (Life's That Way) hitting stores all in the same seven days, the talk shows (Oprah, Good Morning America, Today, etc.) are reluctant to have me on because "oh, times are hard and no one want to hear about a "sad" book." Hmmm. I've got a feeling they're guessing wrong about this. (And anyone who wants to tell them so is welcome to as far as I'm concerned!)
But what it means is I've got to do something I'm not remotely comfortable with: pushing my own book. There's also not a lot of support with the publisher for a national signing tour, so they're testing the waters in L.A. Anyone who feels supportive and lives near enough would be incredibly welcome at any or all of these upcoming book signings. If they'll let me, I'll not only sign books but anything else anyone wants signed. I hope some of you can make it, and if they go well, maybe the stores will agree to other signings around the country and elsewhere."
